Talk to your designer about colour and why it’s important and hopefully they will keep you entertained for hours. Studies over many years have been made on the impact colour has on how businesses and products are perceived.
Here are some the highlights which should get you thinking about the use colour:
- Colour is the first thing a consumer will notice about your colour
- Between 60 and 80 percent of customers are influenced by a products colour
- Colours are essentially warm or cold. Warm colours are associated with energy and cold colours are all about calmness and security
- Red is a warm colour and supports aggressive, energetic, provocative and attention seeking brands
- Green is a cold colour more suited to companies that are trustworthy, dependable, secure and responsible
- 95%of brands use one or two colours
- Don’t forget the use of colour has different impacts in different cultures –Red in the western world as mentioned above is all about energy, excitement, action etc. but in South Africa it is the colour of mourning.
It costs very little but a bit of time and thought when choosing a colour for a logo, advertisement or direct mail piece – but the wrong choice could be very expensive.
